Whose Land App Overview
Whose Land is an educational web-based app utilizing GIS technology to help users identify Indigenous Nations, territories, and communities throughout Canada. It aids in understanding the land one resides on, crafting land acknowledgements, and exploring signed treaties and agreements. The app features informative videos on the significance of land acknowledgements and Indigenous perspectives on land relationships.
Developed in partnership by Canadian Roots Exchange, TakingITGlobal, and Bold Realities, Whose Land comprises six maps showcasing Indigenous territories, Treaties, First Nations, Inuit, and Metis communities. Each community's section will eventually host a land acknowledgment video and other relevant information, fostering educational discussions on reconciliation.
